Have you for a moment wondering about the law schools in Nigeria, their locations, and school fees, amongst all other things?

In this article, we would answer your deep-seated question because this post would provide a list of the law schools in Nigeria.

First things first, law schools in Nigeria are the brainchild of the federal government of Nigeria. It began in 1962. It was created to give legal education to both lawyers trained overseas and aspiring Nigerian legal practitioners.

This wasn’t the case in the pre-independence era. Lawyers had to travel to England to be trained and then later on called the English bar. But, with as many as six law schools presently and even counting, things have been made a lot easier.

On a general scale, many law students apply to two out of the six law schools in Nigeria. They are the Lagos Law School and Abuja Law School. This is because of the strategic and well-developed locations of these two law schools.

All things being equal, the students who are admitted into any of the law schools in Nigeria spend one year before they are licensed to practice as lawyers in the country. It is after the students pass these NLS examinations that they are called to the Nigerian Bar and proceed afterward to the compulsory NYSC scheme.
