The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, UATH, Gwalagada is located in the FCT. It has a 520-bed hospital with a facility for expansion to 800 beds.

And, as part of efforts to ensure that both secondary school leavers and university graduates are groomed in the nursing profession, UATH offers both a three-year general nursing and a two-year Post-basic nursing and midwifery program.

For the general nursing program, the student must have a secondary school certificate and not more than five credits which include English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The requirements change for the Post-basic nursing and midwifery program. The candidate is deemed eligible when he is already a registered nurse.
